Restorative dentistry provides a way for you to restore your smile to optimal health. This covers procedures such as veneers, crowns, bridges, and dentures. At Georgetown Dental in Surrey, we provide a wide range of restorative options to help you rebuild your smile.

Our team of dental professionals will create a plan based on your unique needs, with the goal of restoring and enhancing your smile and returning you to an optimal state of oral health.

Chipped or cracked teeth may be repaired using dental crowns, whereas missing teeth are often filled in using implants or bridges in order to prevent the remaining teeth from shifting.

Crowns and Bridges

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a covering on a tooth that engulfs the entire tooth to restore it to its original shape and size. It protects the tooth structure when it cannot be restored via other means.

Porcelain are the most common material for crowns. They are very durable and will last a long time, but they will need to be replaced over time like any other dental restoration. Porcelain crowns are made to match the shape, size, and colour of your natural teeth, giving you more confidence in your smile.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges quite literally bridge the gap left by missing teeth.

Dental bridges consist of two crowns on the teeth either side of the gap, which are called the abutment teeth, and then a false tooth is placed into the space, which is called a pontic. Bridges are made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or any combination of those materials.

Reasons for dental crowns or a dental bridge:

  • Broken or fractured tooth

  • Cosmetic enhancement

  • Decayed teeth

  • Fractured fillings

  • Large fillings

  • Tooth has a root canal

Root Canal Therapy

When the nerve in your tooth becomes infected, a successful root canal treatment can help prevent you from losing the tooth while treating the infection before it causes further complications.

While a root canal sounds scary, it is often no more uncomfortable than having a cavity filled, though it is a more complex procedure.

An infected tooth can cause discomfort by swelling and toothache. Furthermore, bacteria from the infected area can enter the bloodstream and cause complications.

Complete and Partial Dentures

Dentures are removable dental pieces that replace missing teeth. They allow you to chew properly and speak normally when you’ve lost your teeth. They can also support a much more natural-looking smile and facial structure, preventing the sunken lower facial features that can come from losing teeth and gum tissue.

Complete dentures replace all the teeth in an arch whereas partial dentures are used in cases where only some of the teeth are missing.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry uses a soft tissue laser for a variety of procedures that will improve your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. Dr. Kooner has certification and training in using the Picasso Dental Laser, a laser specifically designed to replace the dental scalpel. The Pisacco Dental Laser helps to reduce trauma by eliminating the need for incisions or stitches and coagulating as it goes, preventing unnecessary damage to surrounding tissue.

Oral Surgery

We believe that the best treatment option for wisdom teeth removal is early detection and extraction. Wisdom teeth are the third or final molars that grow in the back of your mouth. They tend to erupt during the teenage years, provided there is enough space. It is important to determine whether there is enough room for the wisdom teeth at a young age. We can use a panoramic radiograph, a special type of dental X-ray.
