The General Procedure
A Botox® or Dysport® procedure tends to last about ten minutes and works by altering the facial muscles underneath the skin that are related to wrinkles. A small amount of botulinum toxin (typically 1-2ccs) is injected into the area of the wrinkle. The injection works to block impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles, which relaxes and smooths the surface of the skin. Treatment effects tend to last somewhere between 3-6 months, at which point you can choose to repeat the treatment.
